AUGUSTA (AP) — A lawmaker who wants to use a never-before-tried constitutional provision to remove Maine Gov. Paul LePage from office isn’t taking “no” for an answer.
Independent Rep. Jeffrey Evangelos is asking Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap to reconsider his decision against starting the process of temporarily removing LePage from office for being unfit to serve.
Dunlap called the Republican governor’s conduct “reprehensible” Thursday, but said he lacked “manifest evidence” that LePage is unable to serve.
