BIDDEFORD — Alphonse G. “Joe” Lachance, 83, of Biddeford, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Spring Brook Center in Westbrook.

He was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Biddeford, a son of Gedeon and Fernande (Turgeon) Lachance, and was educated at St. Andre’s School.

Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. Following his military service, we worked for 16 years at Allied Chemical in Saco and 19 years with West Point Pepperell in Biddeford. He retired in 1994.

On Feb. 10, 1979, he married Patricia Lessard in Biddeford.

Joe was a member of the Eagles Aerie 804 and the St. Louis Alumni Association. A skilled bowler, he was Twin City Champion in 1956 and 1957, and on a State Champion five-man team in the ’50s. He also enjoyed billiards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lachance, on Oct. 9, 2014, and his son-in-law, Stephen Roy, on Sept. 12, 2016.

He is survived by: one son, Steven Lachance of Old Orchard Beach; one daughter, Lisa Roy of Bristol, Connecticut; two stepsons, John Curtis of Clinton, Mississippi, and Steven Curtis of Saco; one stepdaughter, Kathy Boucher of Lyman; one brother, Joseph R. Lachance of Biddeford; two sisters, Priscille Lachance and Therese Lamontagne, both of Biddeford; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. Private graveside services and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
