As the days grow steadily colder, the United Way of Mid Coast Maine has invited organizations to attend a meeting to learn about critical heating related services.

The meeting is on Oct. 17 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the United Way of Mid Coast Maine located at 34 Wing Farm Parkway, Bath. It will be in Room C on the lower level.

Organizations welcome include those with programs serving individuals in Lincoln or Sagadahoc counties or Brunswick and Harpswell.

The meeting will cover where costs of fuel and utilities stand this year, as well as the demand for these services.

A report on the LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) guidelines and funding for the coming year is also slated, as well as a report on fuel funds. Strategies to reduce fuel need will also be discussed.

A list of current heating and supplemental assistance resources for each town will be distributed and available on the United Way website, uwmcm.org, after Oct. 21.

The purpose of the meeting is to share information on supplemental fuel assistance and related programs in the Midcoast region and to discuss ways to more effectively meet the needs for people at risk this winter. This is also an opportunity to get to meet others working on these issues.

Those attending should RSVP to [email protected] by Thursday, Oct. 13. Include full contact information for each attendee, as well as any relevant materials you would like included in the participant packet.

Program information should be sent to [email protected] by Tuesday, Oct. 11.
