Poetry series

Lowry’s Lodge presents another edition of its poetry series at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Continuum for Creatvity, 863 Main St., Westbrook.

Featured poets are Susann Pelletier, award-winng poety of the Franco-American experience, and David Sloan, Maine Literary and Betsy Sholl awards winner. Jim Donnelly and Anna Wrobel will host the program. Suggested donation is $4.

Seniors meet to eat

Westbrook Senior Citizens will be served a meal when it meets at noon on Monday, Oct. 17, in Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St. The menu includes meat loaf, gravy, potatoes, veggies and apple pie. Michael McCarthy will entertain on the piano and present a slide show.

Ann McAlpine, seniors’ spokewoman, said the group has seats available for a trip on Sunday, Nov. 13, to Indian Head in Lincoln, New Hampshire. Reservations are being accepted for the group’s trip in April to Colonial Williamsburg and a trip to Nova Scotia in June. For more information, call 854-2705 or 883-5046.

Foster grandparents is club topic

The GFWC Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet at 1 p.m. on  Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St. The topic is the Foster Grandparents Program. Guests are welcome to attend.

Call for coffee biz

The Westbrook Community Center is interested in working with a local vendor and/or business to provide a coffee and beverage kiosk at the community center for certain hours during the weekdays and possible weekends. Maria Dorn, the city’s director of community services, said the opening is “a unique opportunity for a business with similar philosophies as ours, with a vision and creative idea to provide patrons with good coffee/beverages and serve a need here which has been successful in the past.”

The community center, 426 Bridge St., is holding an informational meeting on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 8:30 a.m. in Conference Room A for any interested parties.
