Students from the Advanced Placemet government class at Cape Elizabeth High School will host two candidates nights prior to Election Day, Nov. 8.
The first will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 7-9 p.m. at Town Hall, and will feature the candidates for local offices.
Those running for two available seats on the Town Council are incumbent Caitlin Jordan, Penelope “Penny” Jordan, who served on the council previously, and newcomer Shannon Auritt. The candidates for two seats on the School Board are incumbent Susana Measelle Hubbs and Kimberly Carr.
On Oct. 27, also 7-9 p.m., the students will host the local candidates running for the Maine Legislature.
For the Senate 29 seat, state Sen. Rebecca Millett, a Democrat, is being challenged by current Town Councilor Martha “Molly” MacAuslan, who is running as an independent.
For the House 30 seat, Democratic Rep. Kimberly Monaghan is facing off against Republican George Van Syckel. In House District 32 ,incumbent state Rep. Scott Hamann, D-South Portland, is running unopposed.
The public is encouraged to submit questions, either on an index card at the door or by calling in to CETV at 767-2273, ext. 255, during the live broadcasts. CETV will also re-run these forums several times before the election.
