George A. Gammon Jr., 78, of Charleston, SC died November 23, 2016.
He was born on Monday, January 31, 1938 in Rumford, ME to the late Mrs. Dorothy Gammon and the late Mr. George A. Gammon Sr.
George was a 1956 graduate of Brunswick High. He was a decorated Ret. Major in the U.S. Army, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, to name a few. George enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, Camp Knox (919). His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Helen Gammon, of Charleston, SC; daughters, Dionne Gammon Robinson, of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Diane Gammon Johnson (Eric), of Fort Huachuca, AZ; son, George A. Gammon III (Julie), of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, Aiken, David, Andrew, John and Kathryn; sisters, Barbara Dionne (Roland), Sandra Ward (Maurice), and Willa Ryerson (David); and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Jeanie Doyle.
