PORTLAND—Ida Philomene Boutet passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at her home after a long illness, she was 93.

She was born on April 6, 1923, in Biddeford, the daughter of Joseph and Delvina Duchette Boutet.

Ida entered the religious life in the community of the Good Shepherd Sisters in August 1942 as Soeur Ste Jeanne de Lorraine. She pronounced her final vows in Quebec August of 1949.

In 1967, she changed her name to Sister Ida Boutet. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in May, 1961 from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine and earned her Master’s Degree in Education with a minor in math in June 1971. Ida taught high school for many years.

She left the religious life for the secular life on June 23, 1977 and resided in Biddeford until her illness required her to move.

She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Joseph Boutet, Jeanne and her husband Albert Lemieux, George and his wife, Gertrude Boutet, Emily and her husband, Roland Pinette, Jean Marcel Boutet, Pauline and her husband Arthur Leo Guillerault, Rachel Bineau, Delores Cyr and Lucille Sevigny.

She is survived by her brothers-in -law John Sevigny and Paul Bineau and her sister-in-law, Pauline Boutet, several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Hope Memorial, 480 Elm St. Biddeford, ME 04005, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Chapel of St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
