Coming off a 54-43 loss to Marshwood earlier this week and turning around to a 57-45 win at Massabesic Thursday night, Thornton Academy has at least partially accomplished one goal.
“Our goal is not necessarily just to win games, but to try to improve. That’s something we can learn a lot from that game tonight and certainly moving forward,” said varsity basketball coach Eric Marston.
TA (2-0) assaulted Massabesic (0-2) from the start, their score nearly double the Mustangs’ before the half, 29-15.
“I give a lot of credit to Massabesic and how hard they fought. They could have just rolled over at halftime and they came out with a lot of fire and had a lot of momentum the second half,” said Marston.
The Mustangs ran down the Trojans within 6 points in the second half, but TA gave Massabesic the slip with help from lead scorer Alisha Aube, 28 points. TA’s Bella Robinson added 10 points.
Leading Massabesic were Skylar Renaud with 13 points, Mackenzie Ouellette with 12 pts., and Madison Drain added 10 pts.
