GORHAM— The Mister Bagel Restaurant, 13 New Portland Road, was hit with a burglary early Sunday morning, Jan. 15.

Det. Sgt. Dana Thompson of Gorham Police Department is investigating the incident that occurred about 1:45 to 2 a.m. “We’re working leads,” Thompson said Wednesday.

Thompson said the restaurant lost a “small amount of cash” that he described as start-up money that was to be used for opening later that day.

Thompson said a window was smashed out with a chunk of ice to gain entry.

It remained unkown Wednesday how many were involved in the burglary. Thompson said he couldn’t say if police have suspects.

Heather Moody, restaurant owner, said Tuesday cash registers were broken into. Thompson said a couple of registers were accessed and damaged.

He also said a small safe was stolen.”Ripped it right out of the wood,” Moody said.

Moody on Tuesday did not have an estimated cost of repairing damages.

Thompson said a delivery driver discovered the burglary.

Two town patrol sergeants, Ted Hatch and Sears Edwards, responded to the scene and called Thompson to investigate.

Anyone with information is urged to call Thompson at 222-1660.
