PHIPPSBURG — Carl R. Peterson passed peacefully into the celestial halls of the Great Architect of the Universe on February 14, 2017. He was born in Hartford, CT on October 14, 1936, the son of Carl M. and Dagmar (Ruquist) Peterson.

He was raised in Newington CT, attended Newington schools and graduated from Trinity College in 1958 with a degree in Applied Sciences. After serving in the Army, he married Patricia Raeburn in 1964 and settled in Billerica MA. He graduated from Suffolk University with an MBA in 1974. Patricia passed away in 1976. Carl married Karin Catlett in 1977, and moved to Amherst, NH. After a successful career as a technical writer, he retired in 1998 and moved to Phippsburg ME to be closer to Karin’s family.

Carl was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Patricia, his son Carl A. Peterson and his brother William Peterson. He leaves his loving wife Karin, his brother Robert Peterson, his stepbrother Lennart Jacobson, his granddaughter

Dakota, many aunts, uncles and cousins both here and in Sweden, and many dear friends.

At Carl’s request, the service of remembrance will be private. Since he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Kora Shrine, there will be the traditional Masonic service with his lodge brothers from Solar Star Lodge in Bath, and a separate service at Sequin Level Lodge in Newington CT where he maintained his membership for over 50 years. He will be buried in the spring in the family plot in Hudson NH with his first wife and son.
