PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Vassar College outscored the University of New England 11-3 in the second half to pull away for a 19-8 non-conference women’s lacrosse victory Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 14).
The victory was the first of the season for the Brewers, who improved to 1-2. UNE is now 3-2.
Storm Sideleau scored all three of her goals after intermission to aid in the Vassar victory. Tessa Waters notched a pair in each half to lead all players with four markers, while Fiona MacLeod chipped in four points with two goals and two assists.
The Nor’easters received two goals apiece from Brooke Kelleher, Jocelyn Davee and Nichole Carvalho. Korinne Bohunsky and Kimberly Gosselin each scored once. Carvalho finished with five ground balls and four caused turnovers, as did reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week Jolena Lampron.
Emily Chancey and Kristin Caolo split time in goal for Vassar and totaled 12 stops.
Maritza Nary had 10 saves for the Nor’easters, who will play Mount Holyoke College tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Dever Park in Englewood, Fla.
