
She was born in Pownal, February 26, 1930, the daughter of James and Emma Welsh Butt. She was a graduate of North Yarmouth Academy.
She married Floyd W. Merrill and later Jack Fortin, who died in 1985. Mr. Merrill died in 1993.
Mrs. Fortin was employed at the Sardine Factory in Yarmouth, area shoe shops and retired after 17 years from Bath Iron Works in the mid 1990’s. She later did home care and housekeeping for the elderly.
She was predeceased by a son Wayne Allen Merrill in 2016, and four sisters, Esther, Elizabeth, Rachel and Ann and two brothers, John & James Butt.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen E. Hadley and her husband John of Brunswick and Rhonda I Schell and her husband, Tim of Deland, FL; two sons, Floyd Merrill of Friendship and Gary R. Merrill and his wife, Cecile of New Auburn; 3 grandsons and 5 step grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at
11:00am, Saturday
April 15, 2017 at the Chapel of Our Saviour, Old Bath Road, Brunswick, Interment will be in Harding Cemetery.
