BATH — Sharon Eileen French, 68, a Bath resident for most of her life, passed away on July 22, 2017, after a year of struggling with multiple cancers.

Sharon was born at Saint Mary’s General Hospital in Lewiston in 1949. Her family moved to Buckfield just after she was born and on to Wilton in 1952, before moving to Bath in 1956. She was a 1967 graduate of Morse High School in Bath, and attended Monmouth College in Illinois. She worked as an estimator for various engineering firms in Pittsburgh, New Haven, and Portland, before returning to Bath. For the last several years she was self-employed.

She enjoyed cinema, reading, nature, gardens, and photography. Visits by her family and friends were always welcomed, and she was delighted to see them each time they came. Christmases were a time for her to shine – she would prepare uniquely personal gifts with special significance for each of her family, always thoughtfully and beautifully wrapped.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jascha (1974) and Dorothy (1987) French of Bath. She leaves behind a brother, Spencer French, of La Mesa, California, and four nephews, Michael French of San Diego, California, Stephen French of Powell, Ohio, John French of Rancho Bernardo, California, and Robert French of Poway, California, six grandnieces, and several first cousins.

Over Sharon’s later years, and especially as she struggled with her cancers, several relatives and friends were especially kind and helpful to her. Sharon’s family would like to extend our most sincere thanks to Susan Hummer, Martha F. H. Mayo, Tory Jackson, and Joan Cunningham, all of Bath, Sarah Becker of CHANS, the Staff of Winship Green in Bath, and those others who contributed their time and effort to help Sharon.
