Is This what Obamacare Intended?
This letter is a thank you to Mr. Ethan Jones for expressing what many of us are dealing with regarding health insurance. We too are a hard working family who pay an obscene amount for our heath insurance with a ridiculous deductible. Our deductible is such that if a person is healthy and has simple preventative medical expenses in a year those procedures and costs are not covered. Period.
Mr. Jones mentioned a pending increase by Harvard Pilgrim for 2018. Currently our premium for two healthy adults exceeds $985 a month with a $10,000 deductible per person. Another 29 percent increase will necessitate a cancellation on our part for our coverage. Is that what the Obamacare Affordable Health Care intended? Where does the word affordable come in?
Hard working families are the ones who are punished, unfortunately hard working families never make the news nor are they a good platform for politicians.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
