
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Janet Fortin and sister, Julie Fortin Beaupre.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Glenis Carter Fortin; daughters, Stephanie Fortin McCaskill (Sean) and Melissa Fortin Spruell (Joe); grandchildren, Cooper and Carter McCaskill and Sam and Jameson Spruell; brother, Raymond Fortin (Joaquin); brother-in-law, Charles Carter (Keyth), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave grew up in Brunswick, Maine and always loved visiting his home state. He was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, class of 1970.
He dedicated his career to engineering and retired from Dominion
Power after 31 years.
He enjoyed playing golf, working on muscle cars, following VA Tech football, and all things train related. Above all, he enjoyed being “Papa” to his four grandchildren.
A Memorial Ceremony will be held Thursday, August 17 at Bliley’s – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., at 6 p.m. where the family will receive friends one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
