SACO — The Thornton Academy boys soccer team gutted out a 2-1 win over Sanford in overtime on Saturday morning at Paul Hill Stadium.
The Spartans would draw first blood when Felix Meas scored early on.
The Trojans would respond in the same half, when Chase Pierce delivered the game-tying goal. The two teams battled in the second half of action, but neither managed to score which led the game to overtime.
TA would get the go-ahead goal in the first overtime period from Frank Vondrak on a pass from Pierce to secure the win.
Sanford keeper Garrett Gallant finished the game with five saves for the Spartans while Travis Snyder recorded three stops for the Trojans.
TA improves to 2-3 on the season while Sanford falls to 3-2-1.
