Verna was born February 12, 1920 to Leon C. and Alice (Pettengill) Maybury in Freeport, ME. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Noble.
She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Slipp of Bowdoin, ME and Zephyrhills, FL; seven nieces and nephews, 14 grandnieces and nephews, and 12 great grandnieces and nephews.
Verna in her life had worked at both L.L. Bean and Pineland Hospital. Also she and her husband, Fred, had a lovely farm and commercial greenhouse on Noble Drive that they thoroughly enjoyed and made many friends with this endeavor. She so enjoyed her gardens and creating her beautiful needlepoint. Verna was also very knowledgeable and a great resource of Freeport history and was interviewed by a number of people; one project being the Words from Millie’s Garden, The Story of Pettengill Farm, a DVD produced by Ronald Gillis of Cousins River Productions (Millie, being a second cousin to Verna). Maine PBS acclaimed this production to be informative and touching and one of the more interesting things they had seen lately.
She greatly appreciated the love and friendship from the staff at the Freeport Nursing Home.
She thoroughly enjoyed her association with The Freeport Elders and appreciated their friendship and ongoing support, and in lieu of flowers she has requested that donations be sent to
The Freeport Elders, PO Box 176, 53 Depot Street, Freeport, ME 04032.
There will be no funeral services.
