SANFORD — The visiting Kennebunk field hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead on rival Sanford on Wednesday and never looked back as the Rams picked up a 4-1 win over the Spartans.
Britney Gregoire had a huge night for Kennebunk as the senior scored all four goals for the Rams in the victory.
Gregoire opened the game with two of her goals to put the Rams up 2-0.
Sanford answered when Jess Bucklin scored off a Kim Works assist with 4:17 remaining in the opening half to make it 2-1 at the break.
Gregoire scored two more goals early in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Sanford goalie Amber Singleton stopped 15 shots, while Kennebunk keeper Haley Moody made eight saves.
Kennebunk improves to 6-3 on the season and will host Portland on Friday. Sanford drops to 4-5 and will travel to Waterboro to take on rival Massabesic in the “Play for the Cure” game at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
BIDDEFORD 2, FALMOUTH 0
The Tigers shut out Falmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
Sarrah Marcotte would put the Tigers ahead 1-0 with a goal in the first half, assisted by Hailey Allen and Megan Mourmouras.
Paige Laverriere would add Biddeford’s second goal in the second while Mourmouras picked up her second assist.
Taylor Wildes made six saves for Biddeford in the win.
Girls Soccer
Old Orchard Beach 3, Sacopee Valley 2, 2OT
The visiting Seagulls would get the win thanks to a goal from Payje Leclerc with three minutes left in the second overtime period.
Leclerc found the back of the net on a corner kick where she curled the ball past the Sacopee Valley keeper. It was the second goal of the game for Leclerc.
Brianna Plante also scored and had an assist in the win for OOB, which also got an assist from Maegan Halle.
OOB goalie Kaitlyn Cote made four saves in the win.
Sacopee Valley would get scores from Breanna Humphrey and Brynn Hink.
Kennebunk 5, Westbrook 0
Emily Archibald led the Rams to a 5-0 shutout win over Westbrook on Wednesday.
Archibald scored three goals for Kennebunk, while Caitlin Wolff and Abby Lamontagne added one apiece.
Hallie Schwartzman and Tiernan Connor added assists in the win.
Wells 1, St. Dominic’s Academy 0
The Warriors picked up a shutout win over St. Dom’s on Wednesday.
Franny Ramsdell scored Wells’ lone goal.
Golf
KENNEBUNK 11.5, MASSABESIC 1.5
The Rams cruised to an 11.5-1.5 win over visiting Massabesic at Webhannet on Wednesday. Owen Manahan led the Rams with a match-low score of 40, while Alex Champagne added a 43 and Gavin Kim a 46.
Massabesic was led by Jonah Roy with a 41, while Ethan Laverriere finished with a 48.
