SANFORD/SPRINGVALE — Evelyn M. “Lynne” Gnade, 89, of Sanford/Springvale, formerly of Lebanon, Maine and Lexington, Massachusetts went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017.

Lynne was born on June 23, 1928 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of Richard M. and Stella (Hollis) Seagrave. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1946. Lynne married Henry Gnade on Aug. 19, 1950. Together they were blessed with two sons and shared 66 years of marriage until he went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 26, 2016.

Lynne was very active in musical theater all her school years and won many accolades and awards. Among these was a two year scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Several pre- and post-marital years were occupied with various clerical positions until motherhood took precedence. However, music continued as time permitted in choirs in both Massachusetts and Maine.

After relocating to Maine, Lynne became co-owner, with her husband, of the Mustard Seed Hobby Shop in Sanford. During this period, she enjoyed using her voice in several church choirs and for many years enjoyed teaching children as a church school teacher. She also served as a guide with Stonecroft Ministries and became quite proficient as an artist with oils, acrylics and water colors.

Surviving are two sons, W. Scott and his wife Brenda of Dexter and Mark and his wife Lynn of Sanford; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Springvale First Baptist Church, located on Main Street in Springvale. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery located on Twombley Road in Sanford.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
