The Portland Arts and Technology High School team – Samantha Henry, Alexis Bellas, Everett Nye, and Ty Jordan – races against the clock Saturday, Feb. 17, under the close watch of manager D’Karee Watson-Deas during the Maine Restaurant Association’s Prostart Invitational at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. Five teams from high schools across the state competed in the cooking competition, which was won by the team from the Lewiston Regional Technical Center. Area chefs and educators judged the aspiring chefs on a matrix of culinary criteria, from taste, creativity, and artful combination of ingredients to the tidiness of their cooking stations.
