“Early in the season, we beat them by quite a bit,” said one of Lisbon’s student coaches, Giana Russo, who also coaches with fellow student Jonah Sautter. “But it’s a playoff game, so we told them we’ve got to give it their all.”

Lisbon used its height advantage, getting 32 points from the tall duo of Michael Farrington and Wes Lucas, while junior Dawson Martel chipped in with 16 for the Greyhounds.

Tommy Grayson paced the Raiders with 12 points, followed by Alexis Bean and Kourtney Gauthier’s eight points each.

Lisbon wasted no time racing out to the lead. Getting three quick baskets from Farrington and a hoop from Lynn Feely for an 8-2 lead.

Feely also added a steal in the opening run, something she’s been working on in practice.

“I work on my shooting and defense in practice,” said the freshman. “I’ve improved as the season has gone on. Playing with my friends is my favorite part.”

The home team continued it’s run, passing the ball underneath to Lucas for a pair of baskets, while Martel tallied three hoops, including a layup off a pass from partner Lucas Francis to extend Lisbon’s lead to 25- 13.

“Wes is a good shooter,” said Russo. “When he’s on, he’s on.”

Bean kept Oak Hill within striking distance, getting eight first-half points followed by Grayson’s six, including a pair of free throws.

But baskets down the stretch in the closing minutes of the first half by Farrington and Lucas pushed the Greyhounds to a 31-19 lead at the break. Farrington scored nine of his 15 points in the opening half.

A slow start to the second half was picked up when Lucas stepped behind the 3- point line and rainbowed a shot through the twine for the basket, doubling up the visitors, 42-21 just over midway through the second half.

Oak Hill’s Grayson did his part in the second frame, tallying six points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks as the junior seemed to be everywhere on the court, hustling on every play.

“I like basketball … our team has improved a lot this year,” said Grayson. “What I like most is the camaraderie I get out of it.”

Grayson finished the game with seven rebounds and four blocks.

Lisbon finished strong with Martel registering eight second-half points, with four rebounds, including two offensive boards and a putback. Sophomore Kristy Coleman got into the scoring act, hitting a basket late in the half.

“I was very excited after making the basket,” signed Coleman through her interpreter. “This is fun playing basketball with my teammates.”

To go with his game-high 17 points, Lucas also grabbed three boards, while Martel finished the game with six boards and two blocks.
