WESTBROOK – The Westbrook Regional Vocational Center’s information technology got a boost recently when Evergreen Credit Union donated more than $30,000 in computer equipment to the center.
From its location next to Westbrook High School the Westbrook Regional Vocational Center offers students from Gorham, Westbrook, Scarborough, Bonny Eagle and Windham high schools instruction in automotive technology, building trades, business education, commercial driving, computer repair and networking, culinary arts, early childhood education, electricity, emergency medical technician, firefighting, heavy machine operation, marketing, medical occupations, social services and webpage design.
“The IT did a refresh and felt the computers had some life left in them and found a good organization that could use them,” said Howard Lowell, Evergreen Credit Unions’s vice president of marketing.
“Most of the school’s current IT equipment is over 10 years old and the new computers will be a tremendous new asset for our students to learn,” Robert Jaime, a computer networking instructor at Westbrook Regional Vocational Center said in a news release.
Lowell said the credit union, which has branches in Naples, Portland, South Portland and Windham, are always looking for ways to help out in the communities they serve.
“This is what a good corporate neighbor should do. We are thrilled to help out, Evergreen Credit Union Vice President of Information Technology Nathan Davis said in a news release about the donation.
Evergreen Credit Union is one of Maine’s largest credit unions and offers mortgage, consumer, and business services, in Cumberland and York Counties.
