Seniors to dine

Westbrook Senior Citizens will be served a meal when it meets at noon on Monday, March 19, in Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.

The menu includes macaroni & cheese, salad and Jello cake.

Michael Perry will provide the program with a narrated slide show.

The seniors will leave Sept. 5  for an 11-day trip to Alaska. Registration is now and a $900 deposit is required with a final payment due June 1. For more information, call 854-2705.

Woman’s club meeting, art show

Marian Sturtevant, president of Westbrook Woman’s Club, said the group will conduct a meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, in Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

The meeting will be followed at 3 p.m. by the club’s annual art show for Westbrook High School students.

Sturtevant said judges will announce winners and awards presented. Parents and guests are invited and refreshments will be served.

Trades for girls conference at WRVC

The Totally Trades Conference, co-sponsored by New Ventures Maine and Westbrook Regional Vocational Center, is set for Thursday, March 22, at the vocational center, 125 Stroudwater St., Westbrook.

The conference begins at 7:45 a.m. with middle school and 9th-grade girls check-in from Westbrook, Gorham, Scarborough, Bonney Eagle, and Windham. The keynote speaker is planned for 8:20 a.m., followed by three different workshop blocks — each one hour in length from 8:40 a.m. – noon. Workshops include bicycle repair, firefighting, EMT, engineering, automotive, and toolbox.

Steve Bartlett of RG Eaton Woodworks, Inc., in Westbrook recently stains a portion of paneling at Walker Memorial Library. Some of the library’s historic woodwork required some TLC. The main part of the library, 800 Main St., was built in 1894 and named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
