KENNEBUNK — Craig A. Richardson, 52, of Kennebunk died on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1965 to G. Robert and Beth (Judkins) Richardson in Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from High School of Commerce in Springfield, Massachusetts, Class of 1983. He then went on to the University of New England, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Education in 1988.

On April 15, 1989, he married Susan Grass in Kensington, Connecticut.

Craig worked at Best Buy in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and was a volleyball coach at RSU21. He had worked as an educational tutor, substitute teacher and retail merchandiser.  In 2005, Craig started the volleyball team at Kennebunk High School and has been the varsity coach ever since. He has also coached softball and baseball in youth leagues with his children’s teams, as well as JV softball at Kennebunk High School. He was also an assistant volleyball coach at the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England. He was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Red Sox and the Raiders.

He is preceded in death by his father, G. Robert Richardson.

Craig is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Susan Richardson of Kennebunk; a daughter, Jennifer Richardson of Portland; a son, Christopher Richardson of Brunswick; his mother, Beth Richardson of Ocean Park; a sister, Lynn Meyer and her husband Robert of East Putney, Vermont; two brothers, Scott Richardson and his wife Christina of Berwick and Mark Richardson and his partner Tom Qualley of Southwick, Massachusetts; three nieces and nephews, David, Sarah and Anna; and a grandniece Piper.

A Celebration of Craig’s life will be held at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford ME 04005 on Friday, March 23, 2018 with visiting hours from 4 to 6 p.m. and a Memorial Service immediately following at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig’s memory may be made to RSU 21/Craig Richardson Memorial Scholarship, c/o RSU #21 Business Office, 177 Alewive Road, Kennebunk ME 04043.
