OGUNQUIT — Jacqueline Maude and Phillip Carter from Wells, are the winners of the 2018 Real Maine Wedding of the Year contest.

The couple will immediately start planning their $100,000 dream wedding event, which will be held in Ogunquit, on Oct. 10, 11, and 12.

Jackie and Phil were one of 13 couples that created a two-minute entry video on why they wanted to get married in Ogunquit. They were one of three finalists that gathered at the Maine Wedding Association Freeport Wedding Show on Sunday, March 25, for the announcement of the winners.

They said that they are overjoyed to start planning their wedding events with the team from Real Maine Weddings.

“We can’t express how much winning this wedding means to us,” Jackie says. “My heart is beating out of my chest!”

Announcing the winning couple is always exciting and stressful, says Melanie Brooks, editor of Real Maine Weddings magazine.

“We can’t wait to introduce Jackie and Phil to our amazing Maine wedding partners and start planning their dream wedding,” she said.

This is the eighth year that Real Maine Weddings has given away a $100,000 wedding.

Past contests have been held in the following communities: Freeport (2011); Portland (2012); Kennebunkport (2013); Bethel (2014); the Midcoast communities of Camden, Rockland, Rockport, and Lincolnville (2015); York (2016); and Portland & Peaks Island (2017).

Now that the winning couple has been revealed, planning for the three-day event will begin. The public will be given the opportunity to vote on certain aspects of the couple’s wedding, including the wedding gown, rings, and much more.
