SCARBOROUGH — Neil P. Ross passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough with his family by his side.  

He was born on Sept. 27, 1924 in Biddeford, the son of Carl and Rena Hooper Ross.  He attended Saco schools (Class of 1944) and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1946. Before graduation, Neil enlisted in the Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific and later served during the Korean Conflict during 1951-1952. After his service to our country, Neil went to work at Diamond Match Company for 17 years working as a manager, then worked for the next 25 years at Grossman Lumber as a district manager retiring in 1987.

Neil enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, square dancing, playing cards especially bridge, scuba diving, boating and traveling.   He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Saco and a past president of the Scarborough Lions Club and Round Squares Dance Club.

Neil was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Frances Taylor Ross, in 2008.

He is survived by his three children Carlton Ross and his wife Kathleen of Scarborough, Kenneth Ross and his wife Susan of Scarborough and Susan Sebestyen and her husband Allen of Gray; his seven grandchildren Kimberly Ross, Bradford Ross, Katrina Phruksukarn, Matthew Link, Courtney Ross, Elizabeth Bellomy and Amanda Link; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the United Baptist Church on April 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Beverly Lowell officiating with a reception following. For those wishing to make memorial contribution, please consider United Baptist Church, 318 Main St., Saco, ME 04072.
