SANFORD — Noreen  L’Heureux, 86, a lifelong resident of Sanford, died April 7 at the Huntington Common in Kennebunk.

She was born in Sanford on Feb. 18, 1932, the daughter of Ernest A. and Mary Jane (Porell) Reid, attended local schools and was a 1950 graduate of Sanford High School.  In 1954, she married Donald G. L’Heureux with whom she shared 60 years of marriage and raised three sons.

She was employed for many years as a secretary with the Sanford School Department, retiring several years ago.

Noreen was a devout communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann and had been a CCD teacher for St. Ignatius Parish.

A quiet woman who loved being at home, her sons recalled that she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great joy in raising and caring for her family, supporting them in all their various endeavors.

Community service activities in which she participated include volunteering for the Sanford Little League, collecting for the March of Dimes and as secretary to the Sanford Racing Pigeon Club.

Noreen was predeceased by her husband in 2014, her parents, her siblings Gladys Barraclough and James Reid, and two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kelsey.

Survivors include three sons, Donald C. L’Heureux and his wife Kelly of Falmouth, Conrad T. L’Heureux and his wife Michelle of Meriden, New Hampshire, Terence M. L’Heureux and his wife Karla of Sanford, and her six grandchildren, Lauren, Ian, Colin, Jessie, Eric and Nicholas.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.  Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery.

The family would like to extend its appreciation to the staff of Huntington Common for the many kindnesses shown to Noreen and to them over the past 15 months.
