TOPSHAM
Topsham police have charged a Texas man they allege robbed a store at gunpoint Friday.
Da Markus Ra Shun Griffin, 20, of Crockett, Texas is being charged with robbing a business at 7 Monument Place — which is a short distance away from the Topsham police station.
According to police, Griffin allegedly pointed a gun at a clerk while exiting the business with stolen merchandise.
Police responded shortly after 12:30 p.m. and began searching the area. Griffin’s van, a white Chevrolet with Texas plates, was stopped on the Maine Turnpike in southern Maine by State Police Trooper Marvin Hinkley.
Three men in the van were transported to Topsham, where Griffin was charged with robbery. He was sent to Two Bridge Jail were he was held on $50,000 cash bail.
He is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court Aug. 14.
