Although I am often somewhat at odds with Edgar Allen Beem’s political opinions, I do enjoy his articles about local life. Last week he had an excellent column about local crabmeat. While I much prefer Maryland blue crab due to its texture, I do occasionally enjoy the local product. My issue with his column is his description of the main cause of the shortage of labor in Maryland as “President Trump’s anti-immigration policy.” I’m not a hardcore Trump supporter, but I believe that his immigration policy is not anti-immigration; rather, it is anti-illegal immigration. But that’s just my opinion and I understand that I cannot possibly persuade someone who is almost vehemently anti-Trump to think otherwise.
