BIDDEFORD — Lauretta C. (Vanasse) Gaudreau, age 91 of Biddeford, passed away peacefully early on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 at Shaw House in Biddeford.
She was born on July 2, 1927 in Biddeford the daughter of Rodolphe and Emma (LaFlamme) Vanasse. She was raised and educated in Biddeford Schools and graduated from Biddeford High School.
Lauretta married Ernest J. Gaudreau on July 29, 1946. Together they raised three children. Their home at times included various family members and relatives.
Lauretta was a hardworking and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a woman of great faith and lived her life accordingly. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.
Her early pastimes included walking, making puzzles, gardening, watching sports and spending time with her family.
During her younger years she worked at West Point Pepperell, King’s Department Store and Stuarts Department Store in Biddeford.
Lauretta accepted with dignity the need to leave her home to be cared for at assisted living at the Shaw house in Biddeford where she remained the last four years.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest (Feb, 5, 1968), brother Rodolphe Jr. sisters Adrienne, Pauline and Theresa.
She is survived by daughters Claire Cote and her husband Ron of Biddeford, and Patricia Drapeau and her husband Andy of Biddeford; a son John Gaudreau and his wife Carmen of Saco; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the kind and compassionate care Lauretta received at the Shaw House and Beacon Hospice, and Amedisys company.
Visiting Hours will 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
