BIDDEFORD — Ground has been broken for a new 5,600-square-foot memory garden at St. André Health Care in Biddeford.

With State Rep. Marty Grohman of Biddeford and Biddeford Mayor Alan Casavant watching, a special groundbreaking ceremony was conducted Tuesday on the backyard patio of St. Andre Health Caré.

The garden is intended to help stimulate the residents’ memories by heightening their awareness of nature and the seasons and will provide space for physical exercise, therapies, and activities all in a safe and secure environment.

It will include wide paths for wheelchairs, elevated garden beds for residents to tend and a gazebo.

Interested parties may still donate to help with the construction of the Memory Care Garden.
