Meet the candidates reminder

The North Gorham Public Library, 2 Standish Neck Road will host an opportunity for voters to meet the candidates for Town Council at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Jennifer Plummer, library coordinator, said in an announcement that the candidates will be available to answer questions and refreshments will be served. The candidates running for two three-year terms are Claude “Fred” Daigle, Lee Pratt and Virginia Wilder Cross.

Alabaster carving workshop

The Lakes Region Senior Center, 40 Acorn St., Gorham, is hosting an “Alabaster Pendant Carving” workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 29.

The fee for the workshop, which is for those age 50 and over, is $10 and all materials are included. The instructor is Windham artist Anne Alexander.

No experience is necessary. Those interested in participating should call Blanche at 892-5604.

Community fund casino night

The Reed Allen Community Fund will host its second annual Casino Night Saturday, Nov. 3, at Spire 29 on School Street.

Proceeds will benefit Gorham businesses or individuals who have experienced “difficult situations” and are in need of assistance, an announcement said. Tickets are available at Gorham House of Pizza, Party Time Rentals, Blue Pig Diner and Gorham Sand and Gravel.

Mark your calendar

The Gorham Historical Society will gather at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the Old Robie School on Gray Road for the group’s holiday meeting.

The program will include music, refreshments, a raffle and calendar sales. Those attending are asked to bring cookies for a swap and an item for the Gorham Food Pantry.

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service reported on Oct. 18 that the U.S. public debt was $21,672,453,590,238.12.
