New life for Dems

Interest in local Democratic committees has experienced a rebirth, Hollis Democrats say.

“In 2017, about a dozen Hollis residents began meeting monthly to reinvigorate their party. Two of their efforts were a booth at the summer Hollis Pirate Fest and a governors candidate forum attended by every Democrat running for their party’s nomination for the Blaine House,” the press release said.  

Shortly after, several Buxton residents began attending the Hollis meetings and since have also grown their base, the release said. Together, the Hollis and Buxton Democrats sponsored a fund-raising event at each polling location that raised more than $3,700 dollars for their communities.
 
Hollis Democrats, who matched each donation, presented a check for $2,314 to Selectman Dave McCubrey to be used for emergency support for those in need of heating fuel.  Buxton Democrats raised $1,400 dollars for the Elden Store at the Buxton Co-op.

All are welcome to attend the brief monthly meetings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the Hollis Elementary School Library.
