Migration talk on Lesvos, Greece

Irwin Novak and Mary Snell of North Gorham, who have spent the past 30 summers on the Greek island of Lesvos, will speak on the “Migrant Journey to Lesvos,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at North Gorham Public Library, 2 Standish Neck Road.

“In the past four years Lesvos has become a main gateway for migrants and refugees who are flooding into Europe through Greece. Nearly 750,000 people have come through this one island; and many get stuck there in camps as they wait for asylum requests to be processed. Migration is a hot topic in America, and this situation in Europe is changing that entire continent,” the library said in a press release.
