PORTLAND — Police on Monday identified the victim of the homicide Sunday at 362 Cumberland Ave. as Patricia Grassi, 59.

Grassi’s domestic partner, Gregory S. Vance, 61, has been charged with Grassi’s murder, Police Department Lt. Robert Martin said in a news release.

Martin said an autopsy conducted Monday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death as strangulation.

Vance was charged Sunday after police went to their home to check on Grassi’s well being, Martin said. He is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail. An initial court date had not been scheduled Monday.

The death was the second over the weekend in Portland. Isahak Muse, 22, of Portland, was found dead in a home at 107 Milton St. around 1:45 a.m. March 16. Muse’s death remains under investigation and no one has been charged.
