SANFORD — A York County grand jury has handed up a Class A felony robbery indictment against a Sanford woman suspected of robbing and assaulting a man in mid-February.
The suspect, Kristin Carey, 35, was found hiding under a bus on High Street.

Carey was charged with robbery, taken into custody and transported to York County Jail in Alfred, where she was initially held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail. A jail corrections officer on Thursday said Carey remains incarcerated, but the amount of her bail was not available.
Sanford Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout said officers responded to the area of Washington and High streets at 6:19 p.m. on Feb. 19 to answer the report of a disturbance.
“The investigation revealed that a female had assaulted a male and took money and a lighter from his hand,” said Strout in a statement.
He said the two did not know each other.
Carey was located hiding under a bus behind 45 High St., Strout said.
The property was recovered, police said. The amount of money allegedly taken was not disclosed.
According to the indictment, handed up on Tuesday, Carey is represented by attorney Valerie Randall.
There was no word on an arraignment date.
