Topsham – Robert P. Grondin passed away on June 4, 2019 at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born in Lisbon, Maine on October 6, 1928.  Robert later moved to Brunswick where he resided with his sister, Judy.  He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

Robert graduated from Brunswick High School in June of 1947.  Following his graduation, he joined the US Air Force and served for four years.

Robert married Priscilla Field on December 25, 1947.  He and his wife then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he served at F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

His wife, Priscilla continued on with her senior year and graduated from Cheyenne High School.

Robert also served in Okinawa for approximately two years.  Following Okinawa, he was sent to Shreveport, LA where he served out the rest of his Air Force duty at Barksdale Air Force Base. His wife Priscilla joined him in Louisiana and while there, she gave birth to their son, Larry R. Grondin on June 5, 1951.

Robert was discharged from the Air Force in September of 1951.  He then returned to Maine and was hired by Bath Iron Works and worked there for many years.  He retired from BIW in 1982.

He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Topsham, and a past master of United Lodge of Masons in Brunswick.

At Robert’s request, there will be ono funeral services.  He would like to be remembered for the hard working family man that he was.  He will rest peacefully at Rogers Cemetery in Topsham.  Arrangements are in the care of Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.  Condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfh.com
