BRUNSWICK – Beverly A. Stilphen, 85, of Bowdoin and formerly of Orr’s Island, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 at Mid Coast Hospital. Beverly was born at Orr’s Island on June 21, 1934, a daughter of Lendall and Pearl (Barrows) Stilphen, and was educated in local schools.
For most of her life, Beverly worked in restaurants in Maine and Virginia Beach as a cook, server and also had owned and managed a restaurant. She had worked at Ernie’s Drive-In in Brunswick for several years.
While living in Virginia Beach, she attended the London Bridge Baptist Church where she was active and cooked at its functions.  She returned to Maine in 2018.
Beverly loved to cook for her family, flower gardening, crocheting and crossword puzzles.  She also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, Red Sox and NASCAR.  Her children and family was her greatest joy.
She is predeceased by her parents; several brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Jerry Coffin who died in 2000.
She leaves behind five sons, Robert Gilley of Richmond, David Gilley of Arundel, Darry Gilley and his wife Shelly of Bowdoin, Jerry Gilley of Virginia Beach, and Sam Brillant and his wife Dara of Hamilton, Va., two daughters, Cheri Gilley and her husband William of West Bath and Dorothy Allard and her husband Louis of Topsham; two sisters, Janet King of West Bath and Blanche Graybill and her husband Kenneth of Orr’s Island; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Orr’s Island Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the graveside service at the Bailey Island Methodist Church.
