Richard Kerwin Healy

ACTON/PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Richard Kerwin Healy, 73, of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Acton, Maine, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday Jan. 24, 2021 at his winter home in Punta Gorda.

Richard was born on Feb. 14, 1947 in Bellows Falls, Vt., the son of Florence (White) Healy and James Bernard Healy. Richard was mostly known to his friends, family and co-workers by his nickname ‘Dick’. He was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Dick married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Kimball, on July 11, 1970, which began their 47 years together. They first resided in Connecticut for 12 years where he worked as an Engineer at Kimberly-Clark, then moved to Maine and spent the next 33 years in the Kennebunk community.

In Maine, Dick continued his career at Cyro Industries in Sanford, where he held many positions from Engineer to Plant Manager. Dick enjoyed spending time watching his kids and grandkids play hockey, time at Mousam Lake with his friends and family and volunteering with the United Way.

After retiring from Cyro, Dick and Barbara split their time between their summers in Maine and winters in Florida. He took up social golf, weekly Tuesday breakfasts with the boys and loved going to listen to music and planning many social events for his friends and family.

At the Healy Camp, Dick loved spending countless hours watching his kids and grandkids grow, and never turned down an opportunity to tow them behind the boat while they tried to stay on their tubes. He welcomed every visitor at the camp with a warm smile, and always ensured that there was plenty of refreshments and entertainment on hand. Dick made it his mission to ensure that the kids always had their trampoline and water toys ready when they showed up for the summer.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, James and Florence Healy; his brother, James Healy; and his wife, Barbara Healy.

He is survived by his daughter, Allison Stevens of Kennebunk and husband Randy, his son Christopher Healy of East Hampton, Conn. and wife Karen; four grandchildren, Andrew Stevens, Madison Stevens, Michaela Healy, Danielle Healy; two nephews, Patrick Healy and Derek Healy.

Services will be held in the spring at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.
