Dwight Hillock

WESTBROOK – Dwight Hillock passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2021.

Dwight worked at Sappi Fine Paper North America, also known as “The Mill.” He spent his first 10 years working in the Research Lab and then as a millwright and machinist. He retired in 2004 after 40 years.

Dwight lived in Westbrook until his retirement when he moved to his favorite place, Lovell, Maine. He was fortunate to love where he lived. To quote Dwight’s friend Danny Conner, “Dwight was a master of the woods.” He spent his free time hunting, hiking, fishing, and simply enjoying nature.

In addition to his years at Sappi, Dwight volunteered for many years as a part time firefighter for the City of Westbrook. He also served as the Grand Master for the Saccarappa Masonic Lodge.

Dwight was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was loved by all who knew him.

He was predeceased in death by his parents Ariel and Cynthia Hillock; brothers William, Russell, Edward, and Richard; sisters Helen, Arlene, Alice, and Hazel.

Dwight is survived by his daughters, Michelle and her husband Stephen Gagne, and Melissa Rodriquez; grandchildren Mark Hillock and wife Brenna, Morganne Gagne and husband Michael Dodek, Henry Gagne and fiancé Anna Peterson; sisters, Nancy Wescott and husband Peter and Hilda Hill and husband Stanley; beloved friends, Deborah Peabody and Daniel Conner; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the excellent care they provided Dwight.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook.
