Nancy Fleming Buck

FALMOUTH – Nancy Fleming Buck, on Feb. 14, 2021, in Falmouth.

Born on April 30, 1944 in Portland, Nancy was the third of the four lovely Fleming sisters. A member of South Portland High School’s class of 1962, Nancy earned her nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966. She worked as an RN in both private practice and as a consultant, while raising her family in New Jersey, where she lived for more than 30 years.

Nancy was an exceptional bridge player, earning the title of Life Master, and enjoying the game and the company of her bridge partners for many years. Nancy’s love of the ocean, and of Maine in particular, brought her back to South Portland in 1997.

A warm and thoughtful hostess, Nancy threw an outstanding holiday – and especially loved making Christmas a magical time for everyone gathered at her table. Her eye for antiques was impeccable, as was her skill in the garden.

Nancy was a gifted quilt maker, and her sisters, children, grandchildren and friends continue to enjoy the warmth of the beautiful quilts she made for each of them. The dogs lucky enough to share her life were treated to doting attention, long walks and hours of playing ball on the beach.

Nancy is survived by her son, Thomas Buck and his wife Deborah Carroll, and their three sons, Joshua, Henry and Elijah, upon whom “Gimmie” lavished endless love and attention; her daughter, Cynthia Buck and her husband Brian Smith; her daughter, Christine Buck and her husband Anthony Delicati; her sisters, with whom Nancy had an exceptionally close and lifelong connection, Janet Ingalls, Judy Baker and Barbara Fleming; and eight nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in late spring or early summer in Maine.

Arrangements entrusted to Hobbs Funeral Home, South Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at http://www.hobbsfuneralhome.com
