WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – William “Bill” James Berry, Jr., 76, died on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, with his children by his side. He passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla., after complications due to pneumonia.Bill, son of William and Priscilla Berry, was born on June 4, 1944 in Portland, and was formerly of Madison and Smithfield. He graduated from Gorham High School in 1963. He married Paula Dale Berry on Dec. 10, 1976.Bill served his country on active duty in the Army for five years, then continued his service in the Maine Army National Guard from which he retired as Master Sergeant in 1996. In the 1970’s he also worked as an educator in the Lowell, Mass. and then the Waterville school systems. He worked for over 20 years at SAPPI in Skowhegan. He could fix anything with wheels, wings or an engine, and used that knowledge to start his own aviation maintenance company, AeroServe.He loved his children and grandchildren, family gatherings, NASCAR races, and car shows. He was predeceased by his wife Paula, and his brother Stephen. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Leigh-Anne and Jan Wyatt, his son and daughter-in-law Sean and Stefanie Berry, his daughter and son-in-law Juley and Michael Salisbury, and his daughter Susan Norton and her partner Brian Petry. He is also survived by his grandchildren Hayley and Tyler Bott, Alana Wyatt, Ryleigh and Claire Berry, Alec and Isaac Salisbury, Olivia and Elyse Homer; two great-grandchildren; and two nieces.A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in Maine this summer.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of William Berry to:Good Shepherd Hospice105 Arneson AvenueAuburndale, FL 33823
