Three prix fixe, pre-selected menu dinners with appropriate wines are scheduled in March not far from the southern Midcoast area. As more are announced, I will include details. Seating and tables will be well spaced and masks required while moving about the restaurants.

On March 3, Sedgley Place is hosting a festive Mardi Gras dinner with hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and wine at 6:30 p.m. The menu and wines include Acadian Chicken Stew with Thyme Dumplings and Cellar Door “Bouy” white wine; Cajun Butter Shrimp and Sausage and Zestos Old Vine Garnacha, Bayou Lemonade; Roasted Corn and Broccoli Salad and Four Graces Rosé; Pork Chop and Andouille Sausage Jambalaya and Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone Rouge; and finally, beignets for dessert. $52/person plus tax and gratuity. North 43 Bistro has two dinners in March. On the 11th, the three-course menu will be complemented by wines from California. On the 25th, wines from Spain will be featured. Both dinners are from 5-7:30 p.m., cost $55/person plus tax and gratuity and require reservations. 747-4009. The restaurant is temporarily closed and will reopen March 3; menus should be available in early March.

Thoroughfare is now open for takeout at 367 Main St., Yarmouth, in the former home of Handy’s (next to Otto Pizza). It features smash burgers, milkshakes (with and without malted milk), fries, salads and breakfast sandwiches. This is the takeout arm of the Garrison Restaurant on Bridge Street and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Wine Wise Events continues its virtual wine dinners. These dinners serve two people and include all of the elements for a complete dinner with wine, reheating instructions and Zoom link with sommelier Erica Archer and local celebrity chefs. Delivery of all items within greater Portland is also included. If you live outside the delivery area pickup can be arranged. $175 at winewiseevents.com.

Cherie Scott, creator of Mumbai to Maine, an Indian-inspired culinary brand, is teaming with Curt Dale Clark of Maine State Music Theatre to host a class featuring some of her family recipes. The class is Sunday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. via Zoom. The cost is $45/link and tickets can be purchased at msmt.org. Instruction will cover three courses and include recipes and coupons for the purchase of ingredients. This event will benefit MSMT. All details can also be found on the website.
