Beverly Wilder Rittenhouse

SCARBOROUGH – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Beverly Wilder Rittenhouse, 87. Beverly was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Beverly was born in 1934 and grew up in Gorham, where she graduated from Gorham High School. She spent the majority of her adult life in Hollis, where she raised her five children.

In her early life, Beverly enjoyed dancing, snowmobiling, and spending time with her family. She also greatly enjoyed helping others and served as a home healthcare worker for the elderly. In retirement, she wintered in Fort Myers, Fla., where she enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard, and mini golf with her friends. Many evenings were spent relaxing with a glass of wine and listening to “The Big Bands”.

Beverly was a strong, independent woman, and true friend to many. She will be remembered for her distinct sense of humor, love of her family, and a willingness to help others.

Beverly was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Rittenhouse; and brother, Steven Wilder.

Beverly is survived by her children, Michael Johnson Sr. and wife Lynda, Patricia Stone, Stuart Johnson and wife Deborah, Bruce Johnson and wife Tracy, and Suzan Johnson and fiancé Wilfred Lewis; stepchildren, Bruce Rittenhouse and wife Ethel, Garey Rittenhouse and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Michael Johnson Jr., Matthew Johnson, Amanda Hazlett, Melissa Feeney, Lindsey Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Melissa Fowler, and James, Christopher, Addison and Ellison Rittenhouse; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and McKenna Johnson, Ayden Smith, Landen and Griffen Feeney, Thomas and Kennedy Hazlett, Cailee Boutin, and Alivia, Dylan, and Jacob Rittenhouse; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Henry “Pete” Wilder, Diana Luna, Janice MacBeth, John Wilder, and Jeffrey Wilder. She will also be missed dearly by nieces, nephews, countless other family members and friends.
