Helen L. Adams

LEWISTON – Helen L. Adams, 98, passed away on April 6, 2021 at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice of Auburn. She was born on March 26, 1923 in Urbana, Ill. to John Stanley and Anna Reinhold.

Her employment included working in a candy shop in Urbana (where she met her husband, Francis), as a nursing assistant at Maine Medical Center, Uncle Andy’s Bakery, the Red and White Food Store in South Portland and a bank teller in Cape Elizabeth.

She was a member of Church Women United, Sunday school teacher and an Elder at The First Congregational Church in South Portland.

She loved to knit, sew, cook, and especially loved to play and read to her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Francis; son Kerry, stepson Henry; and brothers, Enos and Clarence.

She is survived by her daughters, Cherrie Sweet, Karen Rainville and her stepdaughter, Nancy Tilton; and her numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Services include visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. on May 8 at the First Congregational Church in South Portland followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m.
