Alice O. Norton

CAPE ELIZABETH – Alice O. Norton, 94, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in Troy, Vermont, on Oct. 25, 1926, to John and Iuna Breault. She went to local schools until eighth grade.

On May 31, 1952, she married George Norton at Holy Cross Church in South Portland.

She was a stay-at-home housewife and mother, both of which she was very proud. She loved to knit for family members, often making her own patterns for sweaters and mittens.

Alice loved spending time with her grandsons, Shawn, Brian, and Michael. Never missing a sporting event or school activity. Every Sunday was a family day at her house. Always filled with food and laughs.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George. Also, her sisters, Katherine, Blanche, Margaret, Luciette, Helen, and Gabriel.

Surviving is her son, John and his wife, Kathy; three grandsons and their families: Shawn and Megan Norton and their children, Baeddan and Jane of South Portland, Brian Norton of Cape Elizabeth, Michael and Sarah Norton and their children, Dylan and Ella of Scarborough; sisters, Yvonne Breault and Jeannette Ward.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday, April 15, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, and the service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 16, at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
