BIDDEFORD – Ellen Carey, 73, of Biddeford, passed away suddenly and peacefully from health complications in Hospice Care at St. Andre Health Care on Dec, 31, 2020.

Ellen attended local schools, graduated from Biddeford High School in 1965 and eventually went to work for Pepperell Trust Bank. She spent more than 25 years in various departments.

Due to health issues, Ellen retired early and spent time knitting and crocheting, her favorite pastimes. Many family members have one of her afghans, the result of her creativity. She also doted on her pet cat, Puma, who she lovingly spoiled. A much-relished memory for Ellen was a vacation to Acapulco with her parents.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Daniel Lawrence Carey Jr. and her sister-in-law, Paula Paradis Carey.

She is survived by her sister, Fanchon Carey Hirst of Florida; nieces Tiffany Hirst Joyal and Tom of North Carolina, Alicia Hirst Snow and Peter of Florida, Jennifer Carey Nichols and Greg of Pennsylvania, nephews Thomas Carey and Michelle of Maine, Michael Carey and Alix of Maine; and several great-nephews, great-nieces; and cousins.

Two of her cousins John Batura and Albert Batura of Maine faithfully visited Ellen over the years in assisted living and the nursing home. We are forever thankful and grateful for their visits as Ellen was to see them.

We also appreciate the kind and patient care Ellen received at SAHC in Biddeford.
