Joanne D. (Bourassa) Larson

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Joanne D. (Bourassa) Larson, 70, of Franklin, Mass., a loving mother, memere, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully April 16, 2021 with family by her side.

She was born in Westbrook on Oct. 22, 1950, the youngest of three daughters to Armand and Rachel (Briard) Bourassa.

Joanne grew up in Westbrook and was a 1969 graduate of Westbrook High School. Before graduating she was awarded a $200 scholarship by the French Society for her outstanding achievement while in the French Club. She attended USM where she studied foreign language for two years.

She met her husband while out one evening at Shakys with a group of her close friends, when she was introduced by a mutual friend. Stephen and Joanne married on Sept. 14, 1974. After they got married they resided in Saco before moving to Massachusetts. There, they grew their family together being blessed with the birth of their son, Matthew, whom she adored and was the love of her life.

Joanne worked for many years as the account manager for the Massachusetts school lunch department. She was proud of the work she did and loved her job.

Whenever possible, Joanne and Stephen liked to travel. Together they would often travel to his hometown of Baltimore Md. and more often to Maine. Joanne always felt a strong connection to her hometown. She shared a special bond with her sisters, Patty and Con, and would visit every chance she could. Whether they would sit and chat over coffee or take a drive and sit on the beach in Old Orchard, it made her happy just being together. Joanne will be remembered for her deep love of family, especially that of her son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Janine, who blessed her with her two beloved grandsons, Daniel and Henry, whom she loved so dearly.

Joanne is survived by her son, Matthew and his wife Janine and their two sons, Daniel and Henry of North Attleboro, Mass.; sisters Anne Marie Bourassa and Patricia Greenstreet, both of Westbrook; niece, Lisa Wormell of Westbrook, nephew, Jeffrey Greenstreet of Windham; great-nephew, Brendon Wormell of Windham, great-niece, Christina Wormell of Hillsboro, N.H., and her beloved 14-year-old cat, Daisy.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen C. Larson; and her parents.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais and Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with a burial at St. Hyacinth Cemetery to follow.
