GORHAM – Sonia Berenice (Foad) Francis passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 28, 2021. She was born on Dec. 25, 1946 in Herne Bay, England, the 2nd daughter of Violet and Charles Foad.She was predeceased by Harry, her loving husband of 50 years, her mother and father Violet and Charles Foad, her sister Angela Hitchcock (Foad) and her niece Sarah Hitchcock.Sonia grew up in England and together, with her husband, they were able to enjoy many years living in the Far East and several areas of North America. Sonia was very happy to become an American citizen in 1994. They were so happy to make their final home in Maine in 1991.She will be especially remembered for her great kindness to all who knew her, her commitment to volunteer work throughout her life, and the many beautiful quilts she has made and donated.She is survived by her daughter Rachel and husband Cris of Manhattan, her daughter Susan and husband Doug and their three children Anna, Ethan and Christian, currently residing in Nairobi, Kenya, and her son Michael of Portland.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday May 2, at Life Church, 8 Elkins Rd, Gorham.
