Madelene Joan (DeBree) Taylor

GRAY – Madelene Joan (DeBree) Taylor, 82, joined our Lord and her husband “Chick” on Friday, April 30, 2021, at her home in Gray.

Born on Dec. 22, 1938, in Upper Saddle River, N.J., Madelene was the daughter of the late John and Madelena DeBree and a proud graduate of Ramsey High School, Ramsey, N.J. class of 1956.

Madelene married Charles Taylor in June 1959, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage together and raising their two children. Primarily living in New Jersey with family vacations to Maine she and Chick lived in Cape Elizabeth 1970-1974 and operated Chick’s Pond Cove Sunoco together then returning to New Jersey, but their hearts were always in Maine. Chick and Madelene made Gray their new home in 2004.

She was an active member of the former Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Gray; loved taking photographs of the nature surrounding their home and activities with friends and especially her family.

Madelene enjoyed writing stories about her life and researching her genealogy, and reconnecting with relatives and former classmates for organizing class reunions. Madelene was a loyal friend, always willing to help and be there in a time of need or to have fellowship together.

Madelene was preceded in death by Chick and is survived by daughter, Cheryl Kaiser and husband Bill, Scranton, Pa.; son, Mark and wife Lori, Hagerstown, Md.; granddaughters Taylor Ann Kaiser, Colorado; Jessica Cheu and husband Alex, New Jersey; Valerie Taylor, New York state, Alissa Taylor, Maryland; and a niece and nephews.

Interment will be at George Washington Cemetery, Paramus, N.J., at the convenience of the family with a memorial service in Gray, at a later date.

Memorial Donations may be made, in the name of Madelene Taylor, to the
